Board of Trustees member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has congratulated the former governor of Anambra State, Dr Willie Obiano on his birthday.
In a statement made available to Jungle-Journalist.Com, Ezeonwuka said the former governor was a great performer when he ruled the state, changing the face of the state completely and making it a destination point for investors and tourists.
Listing some of his achievements, the business mogul hailed the ex governor, popularly known as Akpokuedike, even as he wished him many more wonderful years ahead.
“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate my very good friend, Dr Willie Obiano as the world celebrates him on his birthday. Akpokuedike is a success story that happened to us Ndi Anambra and we will not forget him in a hurry.
“You are one man that we will never forget, for you made a great difference in the lives of our people. May God reward you forever.”
Listing some of his achievements, Ezeonwuka continued;
“Akpokuedike alone tarred over 1,000km of roads in Anambra.
“It was he who gave us the 10, 000 capacity International Conference Centre in Awka, bequeathing the state a world-class conferencing and events centre.
“He built 1,000-room hostels in 12 technical colleges across the state and also offered scholarships to over 300 students.
“In many local governments, he introduced interventions to tackle the delibitating effects of erosion.
“He built the Court of Appeal in Awka, and above all, gave Anambra state it’s first airport, and it’s a state of the art standard, under 18 months.
“Dr Obiano completed MCC pedestrian bridge in Onitsha, the Chisco pedestrian Bridge, and all the 181 communities in the state benefited from his community choose your project scheme.
“Ndi Anambra living abroad were returning without fear of insecurity because Akpokuedike handled the security of anambra so well that for the eight years he was governor, Anambra was very peaceful.
“I cannot list the so many achievements of our dear former governor here because they are very numerous.
All I want to do today is to say, “May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you sir, as you add another glorious year to your age.
“Happy birthday, Akpokuedike!”
