
A House of Representatives Member, Representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency in Kano State, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, has strongly called for the total halt of hunters’ movement from the North to Southern part of the country, saying, “that movement is no long feasible in the present-day Nigeria”.
Speaking in Torankawa Bunkure Local Government area of Kano, Thursday while visiting the Families of the affected hunters who were killed in Uromi Edo State, Rurum noted that, “the present day Nigeria requires people doing businesses or traditions that would not create any suspicion that might result to uncertainties”.
Rurum who donated some cash to the families of the deceased, promised to immediately commence the building of Islamiyya Primary and Secondary School in the area for the orphans of those killed.
He said, “Carrying dangerous Weapons and moving around with them from one end to another in this sensitive period of insecurity in the land will surely send a bad signal and result in chaos. Therefore our hunters should henceforth stop it”, he advised.
“Just recently over 30 of my Rano hometown hunters were apprehended in Ondo State. I had to personally go and see the Governor and show every evidence that they are not Criminals before he worked out their released”.
He added, “If those people in Ondo who arrested our Rano hunters were senseless like those of Uromi, what do you think would have happened? The story would have been different by now”.
Speaking, the State Chairman of the factional NNPP with the fruits logo, Senator Masaud Jibrin Eldoguwa, said that he was touched by what has happened but that it should serve as a lesson that will guard against reoccurrence.
El-doguwa said that sooner than later, work will start on the school that is promised to be built, adding that the aim was to give the children of those killed hope that they are not neglected.
Huge crowds of political supporters from Bunkure to the area received the visiting House of Representatives Member Alhassan Rurum, alongside the House of Assembly member representing Sumaila Local Government, Zubairu Masu.
