The Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, His Eminence Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, has commended Nigerian physicians for their tireless commitment to improving public health and promoting wellbeing in communities across the country.
The royal father, who was represented by Sir Benjamin Nnadozie Udensi (KSC), President-General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, made this remark during the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Abia State Annual Physicians’ Week 2025, held in Umuahia.
He noted that doctors play a crucial role in sustaining life, preventing diseases, and promoting community wellness through their dedication and expertise. According to him, every physician contributes significantly to the strength and progress of society, and their efforts should be recognized as vital to national development.
Eze Oji emphasized that the work of physicians extends beyond the hospital environment, as they help build healthier societies through medical outreach, public enlightenment, and health advocacy. He said that through these efforts, physicians help reduce mortality, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and ensure communities remain strong and productive.
The event, themed “Healthcare as a Value Chain — Building Efficiency from Policy to Patients”, featured lectures from leading health experts including Prof. Onoka Chima, Dr. Isaac Chukwu, and Prof. Azubike Onyebuchi. Discussions focused on ethical practice, artificial intelligence in medicine, and improved healthcare delivery from policy to patient level.
Eze Eberechukwu Oji also highlighted the importance of positive media coverage of community and professional achievements. He encouraged journalists to promote uplifting stories from Arochukwu and beyond, describing such reports as vital to fostering a healthier image, encouraging investment, and attracting tourism to Arochukwu. He reiterated that consistent positive storytelling helps to build confidence and pride among the people.
The week-long event, which was accentuated with various activities, concluded with a thanksgiving service at Queen Elizabeth Chapel, Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia, followed by a luncheon at Sun Heaven Hotel, Umuahia.
