Senator Kelvin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his membership with the Labour Party (LP).
Chukwu made the announcement during a town hall meeting in Amuri Community, Nkanu West Local Government Area, expressing gratitude to his constituents for their continued support since his election. He assured them of his commitment to serve effectively in his new political home.
Ben Nwoye, former state chairman of the APC, welcomed Chukwu’s move, describing it as a strategic decision that would benefit both the senator and the people of Enugu East.
This defection adds to a growing list of lawmakers from Enugu State who have recently joined the APC, reflecting a shift in the political landscape of the region. Among them are Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu and Sunday Umehia, who also switched allegiance in the past months.
Chukwu’s move highlights the dynamic nature of politics in Enugu, with many observers watching closely how these changes will shape the state’s political future.
